Solange Knowles, Jay Z fight sparked after rapper made plans to attend Rihanna’s Met Gala after-party without Beyonce:

Solange is known for losing her temper and letting her feelings out online. In 2009, she tweeted, ‘I tried to kill my sisters teenage boyfriend (not a secret since she blabbed about it on letterman) I had a GREAT plan. :).’ Rumors of a fight between Jay Z and Solange might have been the reason they went shopping Tuesday at Midtown jewelry shop Mr. Flawless as a show of family solidarity.

Splash News Jay-Z holds the side of his face as he leaves the elevator with Beyonce, a bodyguard and Solange Knowles following the altercation.

He may be crazy in love with Beyoncé, but Jay Z wanted to party with Rihanna.

The dispute that prompted Beyoncé’s sister to attack Jay Z at a Manhattan hotel centered on the rapper’s wish to keep the party going at a shindig hosted by RiRi, the Daily News has learned.

Tensions were already running high when Jay Z — while walking to the now-infamous Standard Hotel elevator — said he was going to the Rihanna bash rather than heading home with Beyoncé.

“Why can’t you go home?” a drunken Solange Knowles said to her brother-in-law as they left the swanky May 5 Met Gala after-party, a source told The News.

Then the 27-year-old singer turned to her 32-year-old big sis Beyoncé.

“Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?” Solange asked, according to the source.

An incensed Jay Z took offense to Solange getting involved in his business.

“You’re one to talk,” he shot back at Solange, the source said.

Jay Z’s sharp reply sent Solange into a violent rage. She attacked Jay Z with a series of furious kicks and punches in a three-minute outburst that was caught on surveillance video and leaked Monday.

The bad vibes between Jay Z and Solange started 15 minutes earlier when a group of Solange’s nonfamous friends from Brooklyn showed up uninvited at the star-studded soiree, a source told The News.

“Two of her friends, who were not dressed for the Met ball, showed up at the Standard and caused a scene downstairs,” the source said.

“They wouldn’t leave and kept name-dropping Jay Z. They were pretending they were guests of his and not hers. Management went to Julius (Beyoncé’s bodyguard) and said there’s a problem.”

A source said Jay Z got wind of it and snapped at Solange — saying “don’t use my name.”

Solange said she wanted to leave the party. Jay Z agreed to go but said he was going to head to Up & Down on W. 14th St., where Rihanna was holding her own post-Met Gala bash, a second source said.

Jay’s camp had called ahead of time to say he would be coming alone and “didn’t need extra security” because Beyoncé wouldn’t be attending, the source said.

That apparently didn’t sit well with Solange, who “appeared drunk and irritated” and flipped out on Jay Z as soon as the elevator doors closed, a source said.

Jay Z — who didn’t raise a hand to Solange as she fired off punches and kicks before getting restrained by a bodyguard — ultimately decided against heading to the Rihanna party.

Reps for Beyoncé, Jay Z and Solange did not return requests for comment.

Solange has a history of letting her feelings out online, including the time in 2009 when she tweeted: “I tried to kill my sisters teenage boyfriend (not a secret since she blabbed about it on letterman) I had a GREAT plan. :).”

Mr. Flawless, Greg Yuna Johnny Nunez/WireImage Jewelry designer Greg Yuna aka Mr. Flawless had two famed customers on Tuesday: Jay Z and Solange Knowles.

This week, she abruptly deleted pics of her more famous sister from her Instagram page.

The social media scrubdown triggered speculation that a deep divide has developed within one of hip hop’s most exalted families.

Rumors of a rift might have been behind a conveniently timed shopping trip Jay Z and Solange took together Tuesday. The two were reportedly eyeing baubles together in a show of family solidarity at Midtown jewelry shop Mr. Flawless. They browsed quietly inside without speaking much and then left, TMZ reported.

Unlike her squeaky-clean sister, Solange — a single mother who has publicly acknowledged her struggles with depression and attention deficit disorder — has raised eyebrows over her erratic behavior.

“Solange has flipped her lid like that before,” a source told US Weekly. “She is genuinely a sweet and nice person but she also keeps s— real. She can take a small thing and it triggers her.”

“This is not the first time this has happened,” the source added. “That’s why Bey and Jay were so calm. They are used to this from Solange. It has definitely happened before.”

Solange harbors resentment toward Jay Z over his involvement — or lack thereof — in her career, according to one report.

“Solange is so angry because Jay Z promised to give her more help with her career and when she brought it up again the night of the gala, he just told her he didn’t have time to work with her in the studio,” a source told London’s Daily Mail.

“Jay Z promised he would help take her to the next level but he never found time to keep his word,” the source added.

Other sources, however, knocked down the report.

Jay Z and Beyoncé appeared unbothered by the fracas while sitting courtside at the Brooklyn Nets playoff game against the Miami Heat Monday night.

But just the night before, something seemed off with the couple as they shared a quiet, hour-long meal at Roberta’s pizzeria in Bushwick.
