Nearly three weeks after rapper “The Jacka” was gunned down in East Oakland, police have not named a suspect and have not made any arrests despite being close enough to the killers to hear the gunshots that took his life.
The February 2nd homicide occurred on MacArthur Boulevard near 94th Avenue at 8:14 p.m. on a Monday night. An unidentified gunman escaped.

“The case is actively being investigated,” said Officer Johnna Watson, Oakland Police Department Public Information Officer.
“We continue to follow up leads and encourage community assistance through tips to help solve this case. At this time we are not releasing any additional information,” she added.
Oakland Police would not respond to CBS SF’s requests about whether there were any suspects, whether witnesses were coming forward, what the motive was, and whether they were confident they would eventually make an arrest and conviction.

The tour manager of rapper Nicki Minaj was stabbed to death and another member of her entourage was seriously injured Wednesday in a bar fight, the artist and police said.
Minaj, one of the most successful female rappers, said that the two members of her team were stabbed in Philadelphia, where they were preparing for a tour scheduled to start on March 16 in Stockholm.
“One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour,” Minaj wrote on Twitter.
Police said that an apparent argument set off the fight after midnight outside the Che’ Bar & Grill and that the victim had been stabbed multiple times in the torso before dying in a hospital.
The other man was in critical condition with stab wounds to his left arm and left side, a police statement said.
The police described the alleged assailant as a 30-year-old man with a full beard who drove away in a dark gold Buick Lesabre.
While police did not identify the victims, rapper Fabolous identified the dead man as De’Von Pickett, Minaj’s tour manager, and said that the other victim was associate Eric Parker.
“I am still in shock and don’t want to believe this. And it hurts even more knowing how good these two dudes are. How hard these guys work,” Fabolous wrote on Instagram.
Trinidadian-born, New York-raised Minaj has emerged in recent years as one of the most acclaimed women in hip-hop, a genre often notorious for its machismo.

Rap artist Vanilla Ice, who stormed to worldwide fame over two decades ago with smash-hit “Ice, Ice Baby,” was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft, US police said Wednesday.
Robert Van Winkle, his real name, allegedly stole several items between December and February from a foreclosed property adjacent to one he was renovating, the Lantana Police Department in Florida said in a statement.
Van Winkle, 47, provided a sworn statement to police and was taken into custody, according to Lantana police, who said the pilfered goods included a pool heater and furniture. He was later released.
Now a reality television star, Van Winkle was renovating the home from which the property was taken for a television program, “The Vanilla Ice Crew,” on the DIY network.
DIY, describing the program on its website, said it features the former rapper who “has made a name for himself in the real estate business,” specializing in “converting beat-up properties into big profits.”
DIY said the premise of the show is that Vanilla Ice uses his real estate and renovation savvy “to make incredible changes to some of Florida’s largest mansions.”
As he was released from jail, Vanilla Ice told reporters that he was innocent of wrongdoing.
“It’s a misunderstanding, it was blown out of proportion. It’s sad that good news doesn’t travel this fast,”
Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose are fighting over their son’s custody.
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose have gotten into a messy custody battle for their son Sebastian after they announced their split in Sept. 2014, but it appears things are about to get uglier.
The rapper has been fighting for sole custody of their child, saying the model is an unfit mother. In a document obtained by TMZ, Khalifa enumerated a number of reasons why he would be the best person to take care of their 1-year-old son.

Among the many complaints he have of Amber include the model’s alleged late night escapades and her only spending 15 minutes with the child in a day.
The kid had also found himself in the middle of heated arguments between Rose and her mother, according to the document, and that the boy had witnessed “shouting matches and vulgar exchanges.”
The news of the complaints comes weeks after Khalifa criticized Rose on Twitter.

“A woman who would do something to a kid to spite that kids father is a foul creature,” the rapper said.
He added, “Sucks when people try to use [your child] against you but the cool part is figuring out how much self control you have.”
Rose explained the reason for Khalifa’s dismay during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” saying it was not a big deal and the rapper only got upset that she had their child’s hair cut.
Khalifa and Rose got engaged in March 2012 and got married on July 8, 2013. Rose filed for divorce in Sept. 2013 and asked for full legal and physical custody of their child.
