young Money rapper Widner “Flow” Degruy, wanted by police in the fatal shootings of two brothers last week in eastern New Orleans, posted a tribute to one of the men he’s suspected of killing on the photo-sharing website Instagram.
Degruy, 23, who signed to L’il Wayne’s Young Money record label in 2012, is a suspect in the double shooting of Kendrick “Muddycupbuddy” Bishop, 22, and his 18-year-old brother, Kendred. The brothers were found dead inside in a car parked in the 4800 block of Bright Drive in the early morning hours of May 25, not long after neighbors heard multiple gunshots.
The day of the shootings, Degruy posted an image of Kendrick Bishop on his Instagram feed. Bishop is shown with airbrushed wings and a halo above his head, flanked by white styrofoam cups of “purple drank,” a cocktail that is frequently mentioned in southern hip-hop music. Arching between the cups is the text “REST IN PEACE MUDDYCUPBUDDY.”
Degruy also posted a picture, taken two months earlier, posing with Kendrick Bishop in front of a New Orleans fire truck — a photo Bishop had posted to his Instagram feed in April. (See image below.)
For six days after the shootings, Degruy posted to Instagram regularly, including a picture of a flyer advertising a June 19 concert appearance in New Orleans.
Police said surveillance video shows Degruy and a second, unidentified man, apparently running away from the shooting scene.
Degruy would face two charges of second-degree murder, police said, and was identified as a suspect during Detective Gregory Johnson’s investigation.
