Bay Area Legend Keak Da Sneak recovering after shooting in Richmond

After speaking to a very close source keak is alive but in critical condition.

The hyphy-era legend was shot this morning.

East Oakland rapper Keak Da Sneak was shot in Richmond, CA around 5:30am, Monday morning following a show he played in Oakland. Police found him in front of a 76 Gas Station at the intersection of Carlson Boulevard and Imperial Way.Richmond police are currently investigating the shooting the  gas station in the early morning hours of Monday, August 21. The 39-year-old rapper born Charles Kente Williams was later admitted to surgery, but is out and recovering according to various close sources including KTVUand a now-deleted Instagram post from a friend. No other details are available at this time.

Keak was a pioneer of hyphy, the Bay Area subgenre rooted in high energy, frenetic dancing. He coined the term in 1994 and released hits well into the mid-2000s. This June, he released the new track ‘Thunderdome’ and has been teasing a new album for 2017.Keak Da Sneak who has contributed a ton to the Bay’s rap scene since his debut with Dual Committee in 1992, with various Hyphy Era classics, work as part of 3X Krazy, and his contribution to E-40’s “Tell Me When To Go”, was also shot in January of this year and left with minor injuries.
